For those who were disappointed by the 2016 Pirelli Calendar's emphasis on cool, clothed women rather than just hot, naked ones, French magazine Lui is here for you this holiday season. The December/January 2016 issue is printed with 12 different covers, each featuring a different topless top model. Jourdan Dunn, Carolyn Murphy, Lara Stone and more were photographed by Luigi & Iango for the issue, which also comes with a special 2016 calendar featuring every cover image. And since the holiday season is a time of charity, proceeds from the nipple-filled calendar will benefit the fight against breast cancer.

Carolyn Murphy Loves Sweet Lingerie, Loathes Underwire Bras

Carolyn Murphy is a versatile model, appearing in ad campaigns for brands like Estee Lauder and Calvin Klein, editorials for W magazine, and even TV shows. Now, she’s branching out into the world of design. Here, the 41-year-old talks about her first lingerie collection for Cheekfrills.

What was your inspiration for the collection?
 
My [teenage] daughter and the desire for her to have access to lingerie that wasn’t sold on sexuality. I also wanted to create a line that wasn’t filled with uncomfortable fabrics, underwire or synthetic fabrics, one that I could wear as well.

Who are your muses for this collection?
 
My muses were women of the ‘70s and photographs by David Hamilton. I was inspired by the softness of his models and old tea dresses, draped fabrics and lace.

How does your career as a model influence the designs you create?
 
After 20 plus years as a model, I have gained some knowledge on design and wearability but that by no means gives me credibility. I admire designers and their hard work but this line was created more from the standpoint of me being a consumer.

Do you like modeling underwear?
 
I’m not particularly known as a lingerie or swimsuit model, so in all honesty, I’m not a fan of being that exposed or playing sexy! However, this line is so sweet and comfortable that it seemed effortless on our shoot.  Some of the pieces cross to outerwear such as my new favorite the keyhole vest that I can wear with jeans and heels at night.

What is your favorite type of undergarment?
 
I love good knickers! The cheekfrills team have their shapes mastered and they are just enough sexy and sweet.

What’s your least favorite type?
 
I’m not a huge fan of underwire bras—they are uncomfortable and I think they are harmful. Who wants to have metal up against their body?

Do you have special occasion underwear?
 
Of course I do! I love lingerie sets and, besides good skincare, this is the basis of my daily routine. I think every day is a special occasion and not only do I want to feel good, I want to be “ready.” You never know!
